Commitment

What is true commitment and are you ready? What does it really take?

“Noun: the act of committing, the state of being committed, the act of committing, pledging, or engaging oneself, a pledge or promise; obligation, engagement; involvement.”

Why do we need it?

Commitment is an important factor for individual success. However powerful you or the tools you use are, without commitment, you’ll never have the results that others can get using the same tools.

It is what drives you towards your goals. It is what keeps you going even though you haven’t yet seen the results you’re searching for.

Very few people recognise what it is to make a true commitment. A true commitment is made with deliberation, determination and motivation.

People who make true commitments may well have their fears and their doubts, but their commitment itself stands firm and is based on certainty.

Here’s a story I heard a while back. In the days when caps were special and every boy and man had his own cap, the boys would go running through the fields. If they came to a wall they thought they may not be able to climb, they would throw their caps over the wall. You see, there is no turning back from true commitment, no room for "maybe" or "perhaps".

What is it?

Commitment is about movement, about taking action. As long as you keep taking action and adjusting your course along the way, you will eventually reach your goal. Being committed to something or someone is really demonstrating commitment to yourself. Find something in your life that you are willing to commit to. Keep focus and channel all your energy into making it happen. Have faith, have certainty of the realisation of your commitment.

  • You are the only person responsible for the life you’re living.

  • You are the only person responsible for your level of happiness.

  • You are the only person who can make changes.

  • When is a good time for you to commit to yourself?

  • When will you get out of your own way?

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation. there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. a whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now!

What’s next?

Are you prepared to commit to you? Yes?

Great! Do the following;

  1. Let go of the need to be “right” and get perspective.

  2. Let go of routine and do something different.

  3. Let go of anger and move through it.

  4. Let go of that heavy baggage and embrace the present moment.

  5. Let go of resistance and focus on what you want.
